Sisters-in-laws – 24x36in Acrylics
A few years ago, I became the recipient of my family’s old black and white photographs. It seemed nobody wanted them. For a long time, I stashed them away because I didn’t know what to do with them. Recently, I took them out to view, and was completely amazed at the glowing colours that must have been there all along. It beckoned me to tell their past my way.
I can’t help but also feel the melancholy that this is all history. The people in the photographs are many either dead or getting old. For me to be able to take interest in painting them is like keeping a fire from going out. Thus, nostalgia. This particular one is the first of many that are in progress.
